Tucked away in a quiet corner of Mayne, among tall trees, adjacent to a sunny meadow, and just a stone’s throw from an inviting beach, is Yellow Bird Art Studio where artist Deborah Strong finds creative inspiration. The art she makes reflects her own encounters with birds and animals that cross her path.

What setting could be more perfect for a bird loving artist? Ravens call from the treetops, pileated woodpeckers flash by, and flocks of twittering songbirds abound. Deborah’s drawing “The Watering Hole” depicts a variety of the feathered creatures who regularly visit her old cement bird bath.

A life-long BC artist and a senior member of the Federation of Canadian Artists, Deborah now calls Mayne Island home. Her art has been exhibited locally, regionally and nationally, and collected by travelers from all over the world.
