Visitor FAQ's
Washrooms: Mayne Island has public washrooms facilities located at the Ferry Terminal, Dinner Bay Park, and in Miners Bay at the library complex. Many other parks also have outhouses.
Streetlamps are located only at the ferry terminal and the town centre, so flashlights come in handy. It can get quite dark.
Grocery stores close at 6pm at the latest.
Fires: Please visit the Mayne Island Fire Rescue website for up to date information regarding burning regulations and permits. Fires pose a severe hazard on our heavily forested island. Outside fires are often strictly forbidden during the hot, dry summer months. Please carefully extinguish fires and cigarettes.
Water needs to be conserved, especially in the dry summer months.
Camping: At this time the only camping on Mayne Island is at Seal Beach (Mayne Island Camping). Their sites are walk-in only.
Camper Vans and RVs: There is no designated parking areas on Mayne Island for camper vans and RVs and there are no services (electrical, water, pump out) currently available for these vehicles.
